The Greatest Gift Helps Lander Locals Plan for Advanced Care

  • Local Champion: Lander Free Medical Clinic
  • Date Funded: April 10, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $2,000

Not all Lander residents have a healthcare proxy or have begun advanced care conversations with their families—which means they might be vulnerable to unnecessary medical interventions, healthcare costs, and stress amidst end-of-life medical care. While those discussions can be uncomfortable, one Lander resident is trying to make the process easier by launching a city-wide campaign called “The Greatest Gift,” which will help locals document advanced-care planning conversations. By working with the Lander Free Medical Clinic, Anam Cara Caregiving, senior centers, the school system, and other medical providers, she hopes to spread awareness and begin equipping residents with the tools they need. To make sure those conversations are documented, she reached out to the LOR Foundation. With LOR’s help, she was able to purchase a subscription to the MyDirective clinician portal, a mobile printer, and other supplies. LOR was also able to help fund marketing and advertising support for the campaign.
