A Voucher Program Helps Libby Wrestlers Hit the Mat

  • Local Champion: Cabinet Mountain Elite Wrestling Club
  • Date Funded: October 7, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $9,600

Many Libby kids want to participate in the Cabinet Mountain Elite Wresting Club, but the membership costs are prohibitively expensive for some families. Moreover, Libby is one of the only clubs in northwest Montana that does not operate year-round, which puts local athletes at a disadvantage when they hit the mat against neighboring communities. To address this problem, locals involved with the club reached out to the LOR Foundation with an idea: launching a voucher program for kids in low-income families to participate in the wrestling club for up to a year. With LOR’s help, Cabinet Mountain implemented a new voucher program, which will bring new kids into the program and allow them to use other resources to expand the club to a year-round schedule.
