When LOR completed its work with Lander in June 2026, community officer Ami Vincent penned this poignant goodbye.

I spent my first six months as the community officer in Lander in a state of awe. When I came home from work each night, I couldn’t stop talking about how amazing it was to see so many people step up to meet the opportunity LOR was providing with ideas and projects to make Lander even better. Over the following months and years I had a front row seat to seeing the best in everyone. Even as partisanship grew nationally and in Lander at times, everyone who sat down with me was looking for ways to make more opportunities available to the whole community—it was never about interest groups. People of differing political and religious beliefs shared tables together, and worked together to bring more to those of us that call Lander home. It has been nothing short of inspiring. So many locals just needed someone to say, “Yes! Great idea. Let me help you get it going.”

As the years have passed and I’ve seen hundreds of everyday Lander folks be doers, volunteers, and changemakers, that inspiration and awe I felt so keenly in the beginning has transformed into faith. I have faith that the Lander community is capable of creating and growing; I see it in the growing number of people who are involved in community work. I have faith that the value of being connected to our community has been instilled in our kids one project at a time. And I have faith that this town will continue to become the community my generation needs when we’re aging and in need of different kinds of support—as well as the community our children will want to come back to when they have grown. I have faith in Lander and my neighbors. I have faith that Yes, we can.
